National Account Manager



A fantastic opportunity to join SLG Brands. 

Full Time, Permanent role based in Cheltenham and reporting into the Acount Director.

 Key Objectives 

  • To manage SLG’s relationship with key National Accounts across our beauty & personal care brand portfolio. Driving sales and profit growth by working collaboratively with the retailer teams to deliver robust account plans. Working cross functionally with internal teams to facilitate successful launch of NPD. Identifying and evaluating new business development opportunities.

Key Tasks

  •  Sales & Profit – Ultimately responsible for driving sales & profit growth to deliver annual brand/account sales & profit targets
  • Commercial Planning – Develop trading strategy by brand/retailer. Build robust commercial account plans for both sales & investment. Negotiate and manage annual joint business plan with the customer to deliver against business targets
  • Promotions - Activate promotional plan and secure additional activity such as second sites in line with account & brand objectives.  Manage promotional spend within agreed trade budgets and complete post promotional evaluation to drive future planning
  • NPD – Execute the NPD plans in line with the brand & distribution strategy. Work collaboratively with the brand/marketing team and retailer teams to land all new brand & product launches with optimal distribution and a tailored 360 retailer marketing support plan.
  • Negotiation – Maximise brand profitability via aggressive negotiation of commercial trading terms and customer pricing. Adopt a thorough approach to all cost management.
  • Customer Focussed – Build & maintain strong cross functional retailer relationships. Foster a culture of trust with excellent communication and regular review meetings. Build a strong network of contacts across Buying, Supply, Marketing etc. and proactively encourage multi-level relationships
  • Data & Insight – Analyse and evaluate EPOS & market data to gain insight, shape /influence account plans and drive actions.
  • Forecasting – Liaising closely with demand planning and retailer supply teams to create accurate monthly forecasts by customer by sku. Actively focussed on operational excellence and driving availability to deliver against retailer KPI’s within SLG stock control parameters 
  • Business Development – Proactively seek and drive new business opportunities to deliver incremental sales & profit. Understand market landscape, competitor activity and retailer strategies to leverage existing and create new opportunities.
  • Internal Stakeholder Management - Interface between the customer & wider SLG team, provide regular comms, updates and sharing of information regarding the customer’s strategy & performance
  • Account Admin - responsible for all account related administration such as NLFs, pricing templates, presentations etc. 

Qualifications & Experience Requirements:

  •  Educated to HND or Degree Level
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience within an FMCG sales environment
  • A Key/National Account Manager with a proven track record who can demonstrate progression within their current portfolio
  • Health & Beauty industry experience desirable
  • Mathematically astute with high standard of written and verbal English language
  • Fully conversant with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel & Powerpoint
